Roses, roses, roses are the most romantic flower, but many other types can be mixed with roses to help keep costs down, create their own feel or fragrance.

Many brides choose to carry a "romantic" theme throughout all their wedding decorations. Since weddings are a celebration of two people's love and the beginning of a life together, a wedding is inherently romantic. However, there are certain decorations and flowers that can add to that feeling.

So, whether a bride is creating a fairy tale wedding, a relaxed country wedding, a Renaissance, Victorian, Vintage or even a Goth wedding, there are touches she can add to create that "romantic" feel in the minds of her guests and for her photographs to be enjoyed for many years.

Many Lush Flowers Will Create a 'Romantic' Themed Wedding, Roses Top List

Roses are a symbol of love. As such, men send roses to their sweethearts throughout their courtship and engagement. Sometimes young women save the petals from their roses and use them, along with vibrant living roses, in their weddings. Roses are considered the most romantic flower and as such are perfect to include in a wedding.

A popular site The Knot states that for a romantic-themed wedding, the "floral style is abundant and lush, often with blooms cascading over the edge of the container." The site indicates that a variety of containers and that lush flowers for simple or "formal and ornate" weddings help create that romantic aura a bride seeks for her special day, no matter what venue she has chosen.

The website Wedding Flowers states, "Peonies are definitely among the most romantic, sweet, refined, feminine, pretty and soft types of flowers that can be incorporated in a romantic wedding bouquet. Similar to peonies are ranunculus, anemones or gardenias. For those of you (who) wish to carry a romantic wedding bouquet that has a special unique perfume or flower scent, freesias, calla lilies, daffodils, lilies of the valley, lavenders, narcissuses or chrysanthemums are the ideal choice."

The Knot lists many of the same flowers: "Blossoms that work well in this style (romantic) are roses, lilies, peonies, calla lilies, lilac, lisianthus, tulips, ranunculus, scabiosa, amaranth, sweet peas, and hydrangeas."

Of gardenias and peonies, The Knot states: "both have a fabulously heady, nostalgic scent. Water lilies can suggest a lyrical Monet painting or the peaceful quiet of a pond in the English countryside. Hydrangea, camellias, and plumeria are other popular favorites, as are use of evocative wildflowers like cornflowers, honeysuckle, and foxglove."

Colors to Use in Bridal Flowers To Create a 'Romantic' Feel

Many brides choose an all-white bouquet that often contains roses and other flowers such as the delicate stephanotis, which is much used in wedding bouquets.

Rose Works states: "White is still traditionally the most popular color for the bride's bouquet but many different colors are used in weddings today for the bride and bridesmaids from soft pastels such as pale pink through to rich vibrant colors such as hot pink, burgundy and violet."

Wedding Flowers of Denver posts: "Stunning all-white bouquets can include orchids, roses, or stargazer lilies; all are rich complements to the wedding gown."

Because red and white are evocative of the most romantic day of the year, Valentine's Day, red and white flowers can be used in a romantic-themed wedding.

Wedding Flowers believes, "As for the most romantic types of colors that can be chosen for a romantic wedding flower bouquet are: pink – pale pinks, blush, ruby, burgundy, magenta, fuchsia, hot pink, violet, lavender or mauve, purple, lime green, pale blue or baby blue, teal, pearl gray, chocolate brown, tomato red, vintage orange, champagne, beige, cream or black.

From so many choices, brides will be able to choose a romantic color-theme for the flowers to be used through their decorations.

Bows Can Help Create a Romantic Feel in Wedding Flowers

For many years, satin was used with flowers because of its richness. Today, much tulle and organza are being used because their sheerness and long flowing tails of bows enhance a softness and add a romantic feel. Tulle and organza are being used with the flowers on the pews, in the floral arrangements and most certainly in the bouquets of the wedding party.

For the bride who wishes to create a romantic-themed wedding, her many choices can combine into a creation that is uniquely hers, no matter which flower or flowers she uses, what color-scheme she chooses or how she wishes to display the flowers. Just keep them lush and draping, and the wedding is sure to be romantic.
